Boat: Beneteau First 35 (fully equipped)
Program:

  • Monday–Wednesday · Training and spinnaker/gennaker handling
  • Thursday · Boat transfer to Pula
  • Friday · Training and in-port race
  • Saturday · Offshore race starting from Pula
  • Sunday · Return to base

Experience 300+ nautical miles of day and night offshore sailing, competitive teamwork, and a true offshore racing atmosphere.

A compact but intense 4-day regatta experience combining training sessions, race participation, and hands-on teamwork in autumn conditions. Ideal to test limits and gain valuable experience.



What Makes This Course Special

Our Advanced Sailing Courses are built around hands-on experience, real-life scenarios, and challenging sailing conditions. Whether you’re working toward your ISSA Inshore Skipper certification, improving racing performance, or preparing for longer offshore passages, this course blends theory with practical mastery.


You’ll Master

  • Sailing in all conditions – Confident handling in moderate to heavy winds.
  • Advanced manoeuvres – Precise tacks, gybes, reefing afloat, spinnaker/gennaker handling.
  • Navigation & pilotage – Compass courses, tides, buoyage, passage planning.
  • Emergency readiness – MOB recovery, First Aid, night sailing, lee shore handling.
  • Seamanship & maintenance – Ropework, knots, rig tuning, onboard systems.
  • Regatta preparation – Crew coordination, downwind trim, race tactics.

From day one, participants take part in all onboard activities — navigation, cooking, cleaning, maintenance, and watchkeeping. By the end, you’ll have logged meaningful miles and gained skills for independent or competitive sailing.

Training takes place aboard our fully equipped Beneteau First 35.


Typical Program Schedule

Arrival: Sunday afternoon or Monday morning – meet your skipper/instructor, settle in, and review the program.
Daily Routine:

  • 09:00 – 10:00 · Theory session
  • 11:00 – 18:00 · Practical sailing with lunch/swim break

Each day combines theory, sailing practice, and debriefing for continuous, hands-on learning.


Yacht & Equipment

  • Training yacht: Beneteau First 35 (cruising)
  • Fully equipped with safety gear, navigation instruments, and modern sails including Spinnaker, Gennaker A2, and Code 0.

Skills and Knowledge Gained

Yacht Systems & Maintenance

  • Operate and inspect inboard engine systems
  • Check oil, cooling fluid, V-belts, impeller
  • Identify rigging types and reefing systems
  • Use onboard electronics (log, echo sounder, GPS, AIS)

Advanced Sail Handling

  • Crew management during hoisting, trimming, reefing, sail changes
  • Advanced manoeuvres: tacks, gybes, heave-to
  • Handling spinnaker/gennaker in various conditions

Anchoring & Mooring

  • Select safe anchoring spots (4× depth rule)
  • Operate windlass and anchor controls
  • Understand anchor types and their use

Safety & Emergency Procedures

  • Conduct safety briefings
  • Use VHF for distress calls
  • MOB recovery under sail and power
  • Understand SAR & First Aid essentials

Navigation

  • Interpret nautical charts
  • Plot positions (bearings, GPS)
  • Magnetic variation & deviation
  • IALA A/B buoyage systems
  • Passage planning using pilot books & almanacs

Meteorology

  • Read weather systems, fronts, forecasts
  • Recognize clouds & storm signs
  • Use weather data for passage planning

Seamanship & Environmental Awareness

  • Eco-friendly, responsible sailing practices
  • Courteous conduct at sea and in harbours
